Our Inception Story
Tourism is rising globally, including in Kenya, especially post-COVID. While it brings economic opportunities and showcases natural beauty, it also has environmental consequences. Pollution, resource depletion, waste generation and biodiversity loss are among the growing challenges.
Mombasa’s dynamic tourism industry is experiencing increasing pressure to align with evolving global sustainability trends. Yet many tourism brands currently face challenges in accessing the structured guidance, resources, and awareness needed to embed sustainable practices into their operations.
This gap risks limiting the sector’s ability to fully safeguard its rich ecological, cultural, and economic assets while maintaining a competitive edge in an increasingly values-driven market.
To mitigate and adapt environmental challenges, EcoVantage Consultancy applied an innovative design thinking process to assess hospitality facilities in Kenya's coast region using Mombasa County as a case study.
The study revealed that rising energy consumption in tourism is straining unsustainable energy sources, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable green energy solutions.
